According to the Outside Magazine blog, Trek has filed a motion in Federal court to end their relationship with Greg LeMond and LeMond Cycles. I say it's about damn time. LeMond has been spouting off for years about Lance Armstrong and the rest of Trek's team doping in the Tour de France. Granted, the doping in road cycling has gone out of control and I have lost a lot of interest in the sport, since Lance retired, but LeMond lacks tact and civility when it comes to his comments.
He looks and sounds more like he's on COPS with a trailer park as a back-drop, than he does a professional making statements about his own countrymen and colleagues. To make matters worse, he's hurting the reputation of the company that is supporting him and his bikes.
Lemond has also filed suit, claiming that Trek did not appropriately support his brand. No kidding! He's done what he could to destroy the brand, team, and reputation of the company from whom he expects support. As I said, I'm shocked Trek took this long to hit their breaking point.
I have no issue with speaking your mind and cannot stand the amount of doping that is going on in the sport, but go about it in a professional manner, not as though you're on a Jerry Springer set. Additionally, do not expect to do so against your supporter/employer with regard to their team members that have never had a positive test over 7 tours without any repercussions.
Good luck, Trek! We wish you the best possible transition in ending this relationship.
