I recently stumbled across a post on The Gear Junkie about these new Microspikes from Kahtoola for your shoes. Now, I know winter is coming to a close, but how cool are these things! I live in Florida and I still think I may get a pair, just for some grip in the mud! The spikes are 3/8" stainless steel with stainless steel chain attached to an elastomer shoe harness. They come in sizes ranging from extra small to large (fits shoe sizes from youth size 1 to adult size 14!) and will fit in your pocket! Kahtoola states that they provide additional traction on ice and packed snow to wet rocks, concrete, and scree, but I'm convinced this will help with traction in mud and lime-rock when I am mountain biking in Florida's lime-rock pits. For $59, it's worth a shot, anyway.
